growing up, pam and i always hit the day after thanksgiving sales hard. no one else ever had any desire to go, at all. but we were always lined up at mervyns or target just to get the free gimmick (one year it was a hot wheels car, yes they normally cost 99 cents). We never bought much but we did lots of people watching and did our best to race around the store looking appropriately frazzled.
great luck found pam in seattle on the first day of nordstrom's annual anniversary sale last week. as i currently live within walking distance of the flagship store we decided it was fate that we should join the throngs flocking to the store for the 7 am opening in honor of the sale.
we got up at 5:45 and walked (because we were afraid it would be hard to find parking), getting to nordstrom at 6:20 and found... no one. no lines, anywhere. we checked the date and our watches and even talked to the nordstrom's baristas who confirmed the start of the sale and then laughed really hard that evidently no one else was taking it as seriously as we were. here we are at the front, middle and back of the line:
finally around 6:45 - 6:50, a few others trickled in and we joined a group of about 25 for the grand opening. at least it was rewarding, when the doors opened we were met with cheering from the employees on every floor... for all 25 of us (i swear that even though it doesn't look like it, there really were 25 people there).
1 wise thoughts:
This story still makes me laugh out loud. You guys are ridiculous!
