victoria b.c. - the highlights

we decided very last minute to spend a few days in b.c. as a last hurrah before jamie started his new job last month. we brought our bikes along on the ferry and enjoyed lots of riding, playing on the beach and the buchart gardens. normal, unexciting vacation stuff that you really don't care to see pictures of. instead i bring you the real highlights:

jamie decided to take an overdose of anti-nausea medicine on the ferry over (aka 1/2 a pill) and slept through 1/3 of our vacation. pictured here, jamie on the front lawn of the parliament building.
while we were in victoria there was an arts festival going on and different kinds of presentations were held throughout the city. a selection of brass players from the victoria symphony performed and at the end of their mini concert they held a movie theme song contest. i kindly nominated jamie who won 4-0 although disappointingly did not know the theme to harry potter.
on one of our bike rides we discovered a petting zoo! we basically snuck in (i am pretty sure it was free anyway, but we did avoid getting pestered about giving a donation) (gees, i am an awful person to not want to donate to a petting zoo) and elliot had a blast. the highlight being the pigmy goats. it didn't take elliot long to feel rather comfortable around the goats:
but after awhile he got bored of following the goats around and decided that their climbing rocks were his climbing rocks. i swear we are raising a pigmy goat, doesn't he just blend in? maybe a red collar would help.
the best part was there was a secret event going on after the zoo closed for the day. if you were cool like us you got to stay for the highlight of the whole zoo... the running of the pigmy goats! i have never seen bulls run, but i can't imagine it gets better than this.
awesome.

If you enjoyed the running of the pigmy goats we might have to take you guys to the Ellensburg rodeo. Mutton busting (kids riding sheep), wild-cow milking (exactly what it sounds like), and full grown men being drug on carpets by cows.

Love your highlights, love your blog, love you guys. Lots of love going on over here.
