elliot is really into "kuks". if you saw my facebook post a few weeks ago you know that i spend more than half of my day talking about trucks. firetrucks, dump trucks, run of the mill ford trucks from the 90's. monday mornings elliot yells loudly in bed until i get him up so that he can rush to the window to see the garbage truck. i always hope the garbage truck is late so i can sleep a little longer.
a truck party simply made sense! jamie is really good at these types of creative ventures so i just follow his lead. we decided to make a road weaving through our house and accompanying cardboard buildings. just wait for the cardboard space needle coming up, the picture doesn't really do it justice.
we invited 13 kids and their parents and had only one family missing, it was definitely a party!
(elliot still doesn't quite get the party thing, but fortunately had lots of help with candles and presents from the older and wiser 3 and 4 year olds!)

Okay, I have to ask: In the first two photos, there are partial views of a painting with an orange background that looks sort of like a Dr. Seuss creature revamped in a slightly more abstract style for grown-ups. (This is not a criticism.) What is that painting?
Awesome party!! My boys had SUCH good time! I'm a little embarrassed that in the picture where the birthday candles are being blown out, my son's head is where Elliot's should be! :)
Happy birthday to Elliot!
FUN! This is awesome! Happy birthday Elliot! How did you do the great roads, they look fantastic.
So cute! What a fun party--love the roads! Happy Birthday Elliot!
Emily - the picture, which we do often refer to as the Dr. Seuss so no harm there! is a lithograph done by a friend of ours who is an artist in Chicago, John Himmelfarb. He has work around Chicago (including one of the underpasses in Hyde Park) so maybe he is familiar? He is fabulous, does amazing work, modern and unique.
awesome! Happy birthday, Elliot!!! miss you guys!
Morgan, I had forgotten all about that underpass, but I think I know what you're talking about. I love the painting, and happy birthday to Elliot!
Very cool! Clearly Jamie missed his calling :)
Wow. That's adorable. Also, Elliott probably doesn't remember me...and this makes me sad. I'll make sure I have some trucks to accompany our puppy when you guys come visit!
